Just a few more thoughts…
I was watching CNN earlier today. A man outside of the proposed mosque (community center) location was painting a picture in protest. When asked by a reporter how far away it should be from Ground Zero, he referred to her question as “crazy” and basically said he wasn’t sure.
So a man gets asked a basic question about something he’s obviously opinionated about, yet he provides no answer, insults the query, and continues painting a frightening picture. Talk about “crazy”…
This is what bugs me about so many people opposed to the mosque. You ask them a simple question or provide a basic fact to dispute their claims, and they have nothing in response. Most of what they use to back them up is bigotry and intolerance, which they then project on their opposition. They also use the “9/11 victims and their families” card, which is so disrespectful. Politicians who hide behind this tactic have voted down providing care to 9/11 victims. Then there’s Glenn Beck, who once said he hated the families of 9/11 victims. If they care so much, why aren’t they proving it in regards to other issues?
And here’s something else: Muslims were victims of 9/11, too. Yup, look it up. Maybe their friends and families turned to religion and their communities as a means to cope with the tragic loss of their loved ones. Would you have opposed a community center for them on September 11th?
